Lyon's "Olympique" club – painful news.

On Tuesday evening it was announced that the "Lyon" club is being relegated to the second tier of French football – "Ligue 2".

This decision was made by the national governing body (DNCG) together with the French Football Federation. The decision is based on the poor financial situation of the Lyon club.

At the end of the season, it was announced that the "Lyon" club needed to reach the Champions League to retain its place in "Ligue 1". In the end, they finished in 6th place and did not qualify for the CL.
