Marijampolė Arena Set on Fire After Kaunas' Triumph

The first match of the new Lithuanian football season was marked by a scandal.

In the Super Cup match, the "Kauno Žalgiris" team defeated the "Panevėžys" club 1:0, and the fans of the temporary capital's team sparked a fire at the Marijampolė arena.

The Kaunas fans lit several dozen flares, which they later threw into a corner of the arena. This led to a significant fire, which the arena staff rushed to extinguish with fire extinguishers.

Shortly thereafter, arriving firefighters joined them.

Spectators gathered in the hall were asked to go outside, but the event organizers were allowed to finish the awards ceremony.
