“Aston Villa” will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
On Sunday, in the final round of the English “Premier” league, “Aston Villa” lost 0:2 away to “Manchester United.”
The hosts dictated the pace on the field from the start of the match, and at the end of the first half, the guests' goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez received a red card for a last-ditch foul.
Although “Man Utd” continued to dominate on the field after the break, in the 76th minute, a goal was scored against the hosts, but the referee disallowed it due to a very questionable foul.
On the very next attack, a goal was scored in “Villa's” net when Amad Diallo found the net with a header.
The same A. Diallo earned a penalty in the 87th minute, which was converted by Christian Eriksen, who is parting ways with the club.
This victory allowed “United” to rise to 15th place, while “Aston Villa” finished in 8th position and will play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
This “United” victory was a real gift to “Newcastle United”, who lost 0:1 to “Everton” in the last round but managed to secure a spot in next season's Champions League.
