M. Verratti: "It is unfair to say that PSG won the Champions League because of K. Mbappe's departure" © scanpix

Former PSG midfielder Marco Verratti mentioned that the Parisian team won the Champions League not because of striker Kylian Mbappe's departure, praising his former teammate and the difficulties of playing at Madrid's Real stadium:

"Currently, there is no other player in the world like K. Mbappe."

Did PSG finally win the Champions League after his departure? It is unfair to look at it from that perspective. With the Frenchman, we had reached the semifinals and finals of this tournament, but we didn't win."

"For example, in the first season after K. Mbappe's departure, he scored almost 50 goals."

The Santiago Bernabeu stadium? When you think that the Madrid team is dead on the pitch, they are reborn."

The 32-year-old Marco Verratti played for PSG from 2012 to 2023 and scored 11 goals in 416 matches.

Currently, the Italian plays for Qatar's Al-Duhail team.

Kylian Mbappe today received the golden boot award.
