Having spent half a year at Atletico Madrid, Matt Doherty is returning to the Premier League.

The Athletic and TalkSport announce that the 31-year-old Irishman is nearing a return to the Wolverhampton team.

Last season, the full-back scored 1 goal in 12 matches in the Premier League. Meanwhile, he played only 2 games for Atletico.

M. Doherty belonged to the Wolverhampton club for a full 10 years.
