Spain's national team's midfielder Lamine Yamalis praised football legend Lionel Messi ahead of the upcoming Finalissima 2026 match against Argentina in an interview with CBS Sports:

"L. Messi is the greatest player of all time."

"I respect the Argentine for what he has accomplished and for who he is in football. If we meet on the pitch that day, it will be mutual respect. He is the best in history.

We both know that I don’t want to be L. Messi and he knows that I don’t want to be like him... I just want to continue following my own path and that’s it."
