Lithuanian football champion "Kauno Žalgiris" received another addition before the upcoming season start. The 26-year-old defender Luka Račičius will wear the green and white jersey from now on.
The 26-year-old footballer, who holds Montenegrin and Danish citizenship, arrives in Kaunas after his contract with the famous Norwegian club Trondheim "Rosenborg" expired.
Last summer, L. Račičius wore "Rosenborg" jerseys in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers and played against Gargždai "Banga." In the fall, he was loaned to the Danish club "Lyngby," where he completed the year 2025.
"After last season, we were left with three center-backs, so we were looking for another strong player who could compete with the existing defenders. Luka has gathered quite a bit of experience, so we hope that with his arrival, we will have even more quality and healthy competition, pushing the players and the whole team forward," said the club's sports director Darius Šinkūnas.
The footballer, who grew up in the Danish giant "Copenhagen" system, previously wore jerseys of various age groups of the Danish national teams, and at just 19, he moved to England to develop his skills with the "Brentford" club.
Making his debut in the English "Championship" and scoring a goal, the defender was later loaned to "Northampton" (England) and "Koge" (Denmark) teams.
After his time in England, L. Račičius also played for Haderslev "Sonderjyske" (Denmark), "Slaven Belupo" (Croatia), and "Volos" (Greece) teams.
Having successfully passed the medical check in Kaunas, L. Račičius will wear the jersey marked with number 4 at the "Kauno Žalgiris" club.
