Kaunas Žalgiris snatched an important point away against Hegelmann

In the 34th round of the "TOPsport" supported Lithuanian Football A League, a battle of the leaders took place. Encouraged by their fans, the "Hegelmann" players hosted "Kauno Žalgiris" at the Raudondvaris stadium. In an emotional and gritty match, the teams ended in a draw 1:1 (1:0).

The spectators did not have to wait long for the first goal – in the 8th minute, after a pass from Vilius Armalas from the depth of the field, Rasheeda Yousuf managed to beat the Žalgiris goalkeeper Tomas Švedkauskas.

Not long after, Gratas Sirgėdas had a chance to restore the balance with a free kick, but the ball was saved by Vincentas Šarkauskas, and Fabienas Ourega, taking advantage of a mistake by the home team, missed the target.

The blue-whites had several opportunities to increase their lead in the first half, but the visitors' goalkeeper T. Švedkauskas managed to handle shots from Leo Ribeiro and Abdoul Harouna.

Once again after the break, Eivinas Černiauskas' team was significantly more active – following Nosa Edokpoloro and Damjanas Pavlovičius's headers, V. Šarkauskas had to work hard, and several other attempts were successfully blocked by defenders.

In the 69th minute, Wesley Gabriel had a great opportunity – after receiving a pass from Donatas Kazlauskas, the Brazilian sent the ball over the bar. Soon after, L. Ribeiro squandered a chance by tricking several defenders.

As the match was coming to an end, Temuras Čogadzė restored the balance with a wonderful long-range shot, securing a point for the Žalgiris players.

After this draw, "Hegelmann" has 57 points and holds second place. "Kauno Žalgiris" leads the tournament table with 65 points.
