Kaunas Žalgiris overcame Džiugas in a tough battle.

The match of the 29th round of the Lithuanian Football A League, supported by „TOPsport“, took place at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium between „Kauno Žalgiris“ and Telšiai „Džiugas“. In a fierce match, the Žalgiris players were stronger, celebrating victory with a score of 2:1 (2:1).

In the 20th minute, the Žalgiris team launched a great attack, and Fabienas Ourega was fouled in the penalty area, earning the team the right to take a penalty kick. Forward Dejanas Georgijevičius, standing by the mark, did not miss and scored the first goal of the match.

Less than ten minutes later, the Telšiai team responded with a dangerous counterattack, but Dejanas Trajkovskis' powerful shot flew over the crossbar.

At the end of the half, the teams exchanged goals – for the Kaunas team, after a clever pass from D. Georgijevičius, the veteran Fedoras Černychas sent the ball into the net with his chest. For „Džiugas“, Ronaldas Sobowale, who brilliantly deceived his opponent, scored.

In the 60th minute, Ernestas Burdzilauskas had a great opportunity to increase the lead – the Telšiai team, making a gross mistake in their penalty area, gifted the ball to the Kaunas players, but the 22-year-old midfielder failed to hit the target.

As the match was coming to an end, the Telšiai team attacked with increasing force. Vilius Piliukaitis tried his luck with shots from outside the penalty area twice; however, one attempt was saved by Tomas Švedkauskas, while the second shot missed the goal.

With another victory, the Žalgiris players remain at the top of the tournament table with 63 points, while „Džiugas“ has 38 points and is in 6th place.
