The "Kauno Žalgiris" futsal club, preparing for the new season and the UEFA Futsal Champions League, has extended the contract with long-time team captain Justinas Zagurskas. The captain of the Lithuanian national team has been wearing the green and white jersey since 2017 and will stay in Kaunas for one more season.
"Every year I feel improvements within the team, consistent progress, and a strong desire to reach new heights. Under these conditions, there was simply no doubt about my future for the next season," said J. Zagurskas.
According to the captain, the decision to stay with the team was influenced not only by good training conditions but also by the players and coaching staff.
"What encourages me to stay with the team is that we have great players, strong coaches, and the best opportunities to grow as a team. Of course, I always want to challenge myself with new things, but I believe this season promises to be very interesting; I hope it will be full of competition, motivation, and a desire to achieve the highest results," shared the captain.
In the upcoming season, "Kauno Žalgiris" will aim to defend the Lithuanian championship title for the tenth consecutive time and will compete for a place in the Elite round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League. In this round, the Kaunas team will start their matches from group A of the Preliminary round, where teams are divided into subgroups of four teams each. The three strongest teams from each subgroup will advance to the Elite round.
