Kaunas Žalgiris crushed Riteriai at home

In the 28th round of the "TOPsport" supported Lithuanian Football A League, the leader "Kauno Žalgiris" faced the Vilnius "Riteriai," who are fighting for survival. The Kaunas team, playing effectively, crushed their Vilnius counterparts with a score of 6:1 (3:0).

The first goal did not take long to arrive – in the 15th minute, Aldayras Hernandez found his defensive partner Anton Tolordava with a pass, and the latter put the Žalgiris team ahead with an accurate shot.

Very soon, A. Tolordava was close to a double, but his header was parried by Antonio Tuta. A few moments later, veteran Fiodoras Černych had a great chance, but he also failed to beat the "Riteriai" goalkeeper.

Exploiting the holes in the Vilnius defense, A. Benchaibas received a pass from Haymenno Bah-Traore and did not miss, doubling the team’s advantage.

Just before halftime, another chaos erupted in the visitors' penalty area, and taking advantage of it, Dejan Georgijević scored his 9th goal of the season.

As soon as the second half began, both teams exchanged goals – Kaunas's F. Černych scored with an excellent shot from outside the penalty area, while Vilnius's Deimantas Rimpa found the net after a set piece.

In the 78th minute, D. Georgijević turned a great pass from Eduardo Jurjonas into a goal, scoring the fifth goal for Žalgiris.

After another six minutes, E. Jurjonas made an impressive long-range shot – the full-back disarmed Vilnius goalkeeper Antonio Tuta from about 30 meters out.

"Kauno Žalgiris" remains at the top of the league table with 60 points, while the "Riteriai" sit ninth with 17 points.
