The president of the "Barcelona" club, Joan Laporta, commented before the "El Clasico" match on the "Real" team's pressure on referees and their victim role:

"Our opponents created an unfair situation through their television channel, which directly influences the referees. This is not appropriate.

We do not need to play the victims; we will go and win at their stadium, but the "Real" team cannot claim that the referees are helping them."

The "Barcelona" club is in second place in the Spanish championship with 22 points, two points behind the "Real" team.
