Barcelona club president Joan Laporta commented before the match against Alaves on this team's last performance in the Champions League and defended Ronald Araujo from criticism:

"I spoke with H. Flick when we returned from London... I liked his and the team's reaction. I believe this result will be a turning point.

A bad result has usually pushed us into a successful season in history. I am convinced of that."

"I want to defend R. Araujo and support him. He has faced a lot of criticism and that is not fair. The Uruguayan leaves everything on the pitch.

He has to go through this period. I told him that we are with him: we win and lose together. We are one team."

The Barcelona club has fought for seven points in the Champions League over five matches.
