J. Bellingham: 'Athletes need to show their emotional state' © scanpix

Jude Bellingham, a midfielder for Madrid's Real club and the England national team, commented on his mental health:

The truth is that I need something... Just like everyone else.

With the advancement of social media and technology, there are more ways to attack something these days.

People find it very difficult to talk about their emotional state now. I know I’ve had moments when I felt vulnerable, doubted myself, and needed someone to talk to. Instead, I continued to strive to create an image of a true athlete... I felt like I didn’t need anything more.

The truth is that I feel significantly better when I talk to someone about my feelings and emotions.

We, as sports athletes, give others the impression that the world is in our hands. But the reality is that if we can show our tougher moments, it will help those people who are experiencing darker times.

22-year-old Jude Bellingham has been playing for Madrid's Real club since 2023 and has scored 38 goals in 105 matches.
