Miami "Inter" club defender Jordi Alba, after announcing his retirement, had high praise for his longtime teammate Lionel Messi:

"Playing with L. Messi? I assisted him for my first goal against Osasuna in Pamplona when we won.

I think since then we have understood each other very well. The connection between us, the timing and place that still exists, has worked perfectly.

I am very happy that I played with the best player in football history and understood the Argentine very well.

I provided him with many assists, but L. Messi assisted me on almost all the goals I scored, so I am glad that I played with him. I played with Lionel Messi for many years and enjoyed every moment."

Jordi Alba and Lionel Messi played together in the "Barcelona" team from 2012 to 2021.
