A new opponent for "Žalgiris" has been determined along with the match dates in UEFA tournaments - the Lithuanian champions will meet the familiar Northern Irish champions, Belfast's "Linfield".

In the first round of the UEFA Champions League, "Linfield" played to a 1:1 draw against the Irish champions "Shelbourne" on Wednesday and lost the tie with an aggregate score of 1:2.

The draw for the second round of the Conference League determined the losing team in the aforementioned pair for "Žalgiris". The "Linfield" team is known to the Vilnius side - they faced each other in the Champions League qualifiers in 2021.

This time, the first leg of the teams will take place on July 24 at 19:00 in Vilnius.

The return leg is scheduled for July 31 at 21:45 (19:45 local time) in Belfast.

Both teams compete in what is called the champions path, where only national champions play against each other in the qualifiers.

In the second round of the Conference League, the champions of Slovenia, Georgia, Montenegro, Luxembourg, Wales, Andorra, Estonia, Moldova, Albania, and Belarus will also compete.

The winner of the tie will advance to the third round of the Conference League, where six winners from the second round and two teams that qualify through a draw – the champions of Iceland and San Marino – will play.

The draw for the third round will take place on July 21, and the matches will be held on August 7 and 14.

The teams that succeed in the third and fourth qualifying rounds will advance to the main stage of the Conference League.
