The Madrid "Real" team successfully began their campaign in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages.

The royal team defeated the Lisbon "Benfica" club 1:0 away from home.

The author of the winning goal was Brazilian Vinicius, who outsmarted Anatoliy Trubin in the 50th minute.

The match was intense. After Vinicius's precise shot, he faced racist insults from "Benfica" fans, and the referee decided to suspend the match for 10 minutes.

In the 85th minute, Lisbon club's strategist Jose Mourinho could not contain his nerves and was sent to the locker room after receiving two yellow cards.

The return leg of the teams' match will be played on February 25 in Madrid.
