In Šiauliai – effective draw and 4 goals in one half

One of the last matches of the 17th round of the "TOPsport A League” was held in Šiauliai, where the representatives of the Sun City faced Marijampolė’s "Sūduva.” In a changeable match, a draw was recorded – the guests from Marijampolė and FA "Šiauliai” played to a 2:2 tie (0:0).

In the 22nd minute, Nauris Petkevičius had the first chance, but the forward failed to hit the target with this attempt, yet just a few minutes later, a long shot by Žygimantas Baltrūnas posed a danger to Gustas Baliutavičius. After another 10 minutes, Sidy Sanokho tested G. Baliutavičius’s reaction, but this did not cause any major problems for the goalkeeper.

After playing just over half an hour, following Amaro Haidara's pass into the penalty area, Franklin Tangiri made an attempt with his head, but the ball was caught by the guests' goalkeeper. Already in the 37th minute, after a corner kick taken by the Šiauliai team, the ball bounced to Eligijus Jankauskas, whose shot was saved by Ignas Plūkas.

As the 48th minute was ticking away, the yellow and black-clad players launched a successful attack – after a pass from deep, E. Jankauskas generously assisted Daniel Romanovski, who was accurate from close range. In the 60th minute, the Sūduva players equalized the score when, after a great pass from Ž. Baltrūnas, Aleksandro Živanovičiaus’s header was on target.

In the 74th minute, the Marijampolė team briefly took control when, after a beautiful pass from Henry Uzochukwu, N. Petkevičius sent the ball into the net with a diving header. However, in the 82nd minute, the score was again even when Markas Beneta fouled in his penalty area, and Milanas Džokičius, standing at the 11-meter mark, did not miss.

At the very end of the clash, Steve Lawson found Lucky Tom, but the latter failed to turn his chance into a goal. G. Baliutavičius saved his team once again when A. Živanovičius shot following a corner taken by N. Petkevičius.

After the 17th round matches, "Sūduva” remains in third place with 31 points, while FA "Šiauliai” has 26 points and ranks one step lower.
