The 17th round of the "TOPsport A League" was victorious for Alytaus DFK "Dainava" – in head coach Mergeno Orazov's debut, the team from Alytus defeated Gargždų "Banga" with a score of 2:1 (0:1).

At the beginning of the match, Vaidas Magdušauskas found Ignas Venckus, but Airidas Mickevičius, who had left the goal just in time, complicated the situation. Shortly after, a corner taken by Hugo Figueredo posed a threat from Akpe Victory. After playing for just under half an hour, the fires continued to burn near the Dainava goal, with the biggest confusion in the penalty area caused by Simao Junior, who tried to send the ball into the net with his heel, but once again A. Mickevičius saved the team.

In the 35th minute, Maksymas Maksymenko played the ball with his hand in the penalty area, and V. Magdušauskas, standing at the 11-meter mark, did not miss. At the end of the first half, A. Victory could have doubled the lead during a standard situation, but fell short on target; at the start of the second half, Krystianas Okoniewskis, who received an excellent pass from Gusto Zabitas, also failed to capitalize on his chance.

In the 76th minute, Davoras Rakičius provoked a foul in the penalty area, earning his team a penalty kick, which was converted by K. Okoniewskis to restore the lead. The Pole could have scored again, but the forward who received the ball from D. Rakičius shot straight at the opposing goalkeeper. In the 89th minute, Mantas Bertašius had left his position in goal; Artiomas Baftalovskis was looking for a teammate, but Koeno Oostenbrink's shot missed the target. And although M. Bertašius saved a well-struck shot from A. Baftalovskis, in the 93rd minute a decisive goal fell into the Gargždai net – K. Okoniewskis sent the rebounded ball into the net, scoring a brace.

After the 17th round of the "TOPsport A League" and the first victory for "Dainava", the team from Dzūkija has 7 points, while "Banga" has collected 21 points and is positioned 7th in the league table.
