After yesterday's heroic performance by Lisbon's "Benfica" goalkeeper Anatolijus Trubinas in the final seconds of the match against Madrid's "Real," football chroniclers hurried to search for similar cases in the Champions League tournament.

It's no surprise – when a goalkeeper himself scores a goal, such a moment becomes a true part of the history of this sport.

One of the most famous such cases belongs to German goalkeeper Hans-Jörg Butt, who scored three goals in the Champions League, all from the penalty spot. Representing "Hamburg," "Bayer Leverkusen," and Munich's "Bayern" clubs, H. Butt demonstrated not only reliable play in goal but also exceptional calmness during penalties, most often doing so against Turin's "Juventus."

Another legendary moment belongs to Sinan Bolat, who in 2009, representing "Standard Liege," scored a goal with his head into AZ Alkmaar's net in the final seconds of the match.

This shot equalized the score and helped the Belgian club qualify for the Europa League. It was one of the rare cases where a goalkeeper scored from open play rather than from a set piece.

In 2010, Vincent Enyeama also made history. The Nigerian goalkeeper, who played for Tel Aviv's "Hapoel," scored from a penalty in a match against Lyon's "Olympique," becoming the first African goalkeeper to score in the UEFA Champions League. Although his team lost that match, the goal remained a significant achievement for the athlete.

Another memorable episode occurred in 2023 when Roma's "Lazio" goalkeeper Ivan Provedel ran into the opponent's penalty area during the stoppage time of the match against Madrid's "Atletico" and headed in a goal to equalize.
