Legendary Barcelona club defender Gerard Pique commented on how much small details in refereeing can matter:

"People think that small details in refereeing don’t matter. For example: throw-ins, corners, fouls, and minor fouls, but they mean a lot.”

"Such things change games, and Real Madrid always benefited from that.”

38-year-old Gerard Pique played for Barcelona since 2008 and scored 52 goals in 616 matches.

In his last season, the Spaniard played 10 matches.
