Another businessman, Erikas Mališauskas, joins the ranks of the Vilnius "Žalgiris" shareholders.
The previously a member of the "Pietų IV" fan group, the Vilnian joins the capital club with a good connection to the new main club shareholder, Tadas Burgaila.
"Dreams come true - I become a shareholder of FK Žalgiris Vilnius, E. Mališauskas wrote on Facebook. It all started in March 2006 when my brother took me, just having turned 13, to an event in Kaunas. A couple of green and white wagons, chants as the train entered the tunnel by the Kaunas station, a victory for Žalgiris in the first round of the LFF Cup, and a lifelong implanted green and white gene.
As a teenager, I independently traveled around Lithuania with Pietų IV without my brother. Later jobs came up, priorities changed, but the love for Žalgiris remained. At crucial moments for the club, I tried to demonstrate that love in the stands. In 2024, I also had a couple of international outings (the furthest and most painful one - Cyprus).
Last summer, while living in Paris, a crisis started at the club; Žalgiris performed poorly in the UEFA qualifiers, ranked 7th in the A league table, and fan pressure on the coach and then-director clearly signaled that changes were needed. On July 20, I sent Tadas Burgaila a message on Messenger - "Let's buy Žalgiris, let's make some order." The response came, "I'm already talking; should you also join?" The rest is history, as they say.
I join Žalgiris not only as an investor, a board member, but also as a part of the team (not football, of course). Over many years, I have accumulated knowledge in e-commerce and product design, which I will use with the team to develop the merchandise and apps for Vilnius Žalgiris. I have always dreamed of doing things bigger than myself, I feel a great responsibility towards the whole community, and I can't wait to see the city painted green and white on match days.
