Fans of Vilnius „Žalgiris“ openly began to express their dissatisfaction with the team's coach Vladimir Čeburinas and team leader Vilma Venslovaitienė.
Before last Saturday's A league match against Telšiai's „Džiugas“, „Žalgiris“ fans raised a banner in the stadium with the inscription „A team without a face – leaders without shame“.
Although „Žalgiris“ won that match, after the game, the team's fans summoned V. Čeburinas for a conversation and openly told him that they wanted his resignation.
However, soon the team manager V. Venslovaitienė rushed to defend the coach.
As journalist Aurimas Budraitis wrote for „Sportas.lt“, V. Venslovaitienė did not even allow for the possibility of the coach's dismissal.
„He is not going anywhere because I am the manager. I am the owner. As long as I am... we will get through this together. The coach will not be replaced, and this has been decided by the board. We did not even vote, we decided so,“ – quoted A. Budraitis the manager of „Žalgiris“.
The team manager also took credit for „Žalgiris“' achievements in recent years.
„Žalgiris“ was, is, and will be. And I am the person who made it happen,“ – added V. Venslovaitienė.
