FA 'Šiauliai' handled the Alytaus 'Dainava' club

The matches of the central 11th round of the "TOPsport A League" took place at the Alytus city stadium. Demonstrating character, FA "Šiauliai" overcame the deficit and defeated DFK "Dainava" with a score of 2:1 (1:1).

In the 4th minute of the match, Artiomas Baftalovskis fired a shot from outside the penalty area; although Gustas Baliutavičius managed to deflect the ball, he did so unsuccessfully, as it rebounded to Polish forward Krystian Okoniewski, who put Dainava in the lead.

A little later, Airidas Mickevičius had the opportunity to showcase his skills – after a passing assist from Deividas Šešplaukis, Danielis Romanovskis attempted a header, but the goalkeeper caught the ball.

In the 27th minute, referee Dovydas Švėgžda utilized the VAR system and awarded a penalty to the "Dainava" goal. Benny Silva, stepping up to take the penalty, did not miss and restored the balance.

After a few minutes, Šiauliai coach Dainis Kazakevičius was forced to make a substitution due to an injury suffered by Domantas Šimkus, who could not continue the game. Shortly after the break, the same happened again to the goal-scorer B. Silva.

In the middle of the second half, K. Okoniewskis was close to scoring a double, but the ball flew past the post, and A. Baftalovskis's attempt was handled by G. Baliutavičius.

The 87th minute became crucial in this match – taking advantage of the confusion in the Alytus penalty area, Augustinas Klimavičius scored with an acrobatic shot, giving the visiting team the lead. During the referee's added time, Martynas Dapkus received a direct red card.

With 18 points, FA "Šiauliai" levelled with "Džiugas" from Telšiai, who are in fourth place. The players from Alytus, still without victories, remain at the bottom of the league table.
