F. Steponavičius: against the champions, the goal is to create opportunities and control the ball

The football club "Panevėžys" will conclude the second round of the "TOPsport A League" in front of its fans. The players coached by Rolandas Vrabecas will host the champion Vilnius "Žalgiris" in the 18th round.

So far, the season has not gone as the Vilnius team would like – with 19 points, they occupy the 8th place. "Žalgiris" has achieved 4 victories, drawn 7 times, and suffered 6 defeats in 17 matches.

The first encounter between the teams this season ended with a loss for the capital club. "Žalgiris" scored twice, but the Panevėžys team responded with three goals and secured a victory with a score of 3:2.

There have been few changes in the "Panevėžys" ranks since then – the team welcomed Seydina Keita, while Liviu Antalis made his return to play for the Vilnius club, and central defender Luka Dumančičius debuted.

Before the last match of the second round, a comment was provided to the fk-panevezys.lt website by Faustas Steponavičius.

"Recently, we have struggled to maintain our lead in away games for various reasons. At times, we lacked concentration until the end, and at times, we had chances to close out the games, but we didn't take advantage of them, and our opponents capitalized on those details, costing us many points.

After the match in Kaunas – the goal is to create opportunities, control the ball, which we know how to do, and most importantly – to maintain structure both in defense and attack," said the Panevėžys player.

"Panevėžys" and "Žalgiris" will clash on June 29, Sunday. The match at the "Aukštaitijos" stadium will kick off at 18:25 and will be broadcast live on the LRT Plius channel.
