The head coach of London’s "Chelsea” team, Enzo Maresca, expressed his feelings after the victorious (4:1) match against Lisbon's "Benfica” in the World Club Cup round of 16.
At the very end of the regular match time, the referee decided to suspend the game for two hours due to weather conditions.
"I understand the safety rules, but if 7–8 matches have already been suspended, maybe the USA is the most suitable place for this tournament.
This is a talk, not football. Players cannot be locked in the locker room for so long. It’s something new that I can’t comprehend,” E. Maresca said at the press conference.
"Before the suspension, we had kept a ‘clean’ sheet and created enough chances to score a goal. However, after this break, the course of the match changed radically. In my opinion, this is no longer football.”
