The Vilnius "Žalgiris" team is preparing for the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifying matches against the Maltese "Hamrun Spartans" club.

The team from the capital decided to hold a press conference during which the head of the A league team, Vilma Venslovaitienė, presented a request to businessman Arvydas Avulis, who is responsible for matters concerning the National Stadium.

"I wanted to ask the respected Avulis, as it is solely his responsibility not to hand over the sports funds of Vilnius to Kaunas by signing the operating agreement with the Kaunas 'Žalgiris' arena.

These funds should remain in Vilnius, and now there is a significant risk that it will be otherwise.

To monopolize the stadiums, you know... Then we would play here (at the LFF stadium – author's note). If there are concerts and we have to leave the stadium somewhere to play during the most important matches, then we would think of building a stadium here (and not a training center – author's note)," said V. Venslovaitienė.
