Deco: 'No players will set their conditions to the Barcelona club'

Barcelona club's sports director Deco commented to the publication Mundo Deportivo on the summer rumors involving Luis Diaz, the Athletic Bilbao team and its right-back Nico Williams, a new contract for defender Frenkie de Jong, the possibility of signing Marcus Rashford, and goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen:

Last summer we aimed to acquire L. Diaz, but it was too difficult.

You are always looking for solutions, but sometimes transfers do not happen.

The Athletic team is not an example, absolutely not.

We have conditions at our club, then the contract signing processes take place. We were clear that we would not accept conditions from Barca that were not suitable, as no player will raise their demands to us.

I see F. de Jong quickly extending his contract with our team.

We see him as a cornerstone player in the Catalan club. We are talking to the Dutchman and I am confident we will extend his contract.

We invited M. Rashford on a simple loan with a purchase option. It is not a large amount for the Englishman.

There will be no penalties if we do not acquire him next summer. The right-back plays excellently and we are very happy with him... Final decisions will be made later.

There are no plans to part ways with M. Andre Ter Stegen in January. If he were healthy, he would probably be playing – he is the captain of the Barcelona team.

Joan Garcia is a player for the present and the future. His acquisition was not something against the captain. It was a great purchase.
