The Faroe Islands had hoped to qualify for the World Cup longer than expected. Their hopes shattered at the very end of the qualifying round.

Croatia defeated the Faroe Islands football team 3:1.

Geza David Turi scored the first goal in the 16th minute. Seven minutes later, Joško Gvardiol equalized the score.

Petar Musa and Nikola Vlašić closed the match with their goals in the second half.

After this result, the Czech Republic can be at ease about their place in the World Cup qualifying playoffs.
