The president of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), Alejandro Domínguez, hinted at something that might not please all football fans.
Domínguez stated that the next World Cup will feature 64 teams instead of 48.
"The next championship will be played at home! The World Cup will come to Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay in 2030.
This is a great opportunity for football to celebrate its century with 64 teams in the World Cup," Domínguez wrote on social media.
Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will each have one opening match in four years. After that, the championship will move to Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
