On Wednesday, the long-standing dominance of Spanish clubs in Europe against clubs from other countries was ended in the Conference League.

For the last 23 years, in nineteen finals in Europe, Spanish clubs had never lost to teams outside of Spain.

The series began with the Madrid "Real" club, which defeated the Leverkusen "Bayer" team in the Champions League final in 2002.

Two years later, the series was extended, with "Sevilla," "Barcelona," and eventually "Atletico" and "Villarreal" also joining this list.
