The Moroccan national team received unexpected news.

Moroccan defender Romain Saïss announced his retirement from the national team.

The footballer made the announcement on social media:

"Dear Moroccan fans. Today I close the most beautiful chapter of my football life. After serious consideration, I have decided to end my career with the national team.

Wearing my country's jersey and becoming captain has been one of the best things in my life.

Every time I wore it, I felt the weight of responsibility, but before that, an incomparable pride.

As a child, I always dreamed of these moments. I have always given everything for my country, which has given me so much.”

Romain Saïss played for the Moroccan national team from 2012 to 2025, participating in 86 matches.

In the African Championship held a month ago, the defender and the Moroccan team took second place.
