"Banga" won the Žemaitija derby in Gargždai.

The 34th round of the "TOPsport" supported Lithuanian Football A League kicked off with the Samogitia derby. A fierce battle was demonstrated between Gargždų "Banga" and Telšiai "Džiugas", but the guests from Telšiai secured victory with a score of 1:0 (0:0).

In the 13th minute, Aaron Olugbogi's attempt from a distance, aided by a minimal deflection, flew past the rectangle. Midway through the first half, Marius Paukštė had to work hard – he defended against shots from Sherwin Seedorf and Akpe Victory, and in the 37th minute, he also stopped a shot from Vaido Vagdušauskas.

At the beginning of the second half, an unfortunate moment occurred in the Telšiai ranks – Vilius Piliukaitis could no longer continue the game due to an injury. Shortly after the substitution, gargždiškiai had a wonderful opportunity to score, but they failed to capitalize on it – V. Magdušauskas took a shot, the goalkeeper parried the ball in front of him, but Aivaras Emsis shot directly at M. Paukštė. Just moments later, V. Magdušauskas received the ball from Deividas Malžinskas, but the kicked ball again flew towards the goalkeeper.

In the 75th minute, "Banga" could have scored, but Sh. Seedorf's shot was saved, and Sido Praleika's attempt was blocked by Lukas Ankudinovas from the goal line. Soon, "Džiugas" launched a successful attack, when Miroslavas Puškarovas' shot was saved by Mantas Bertašius, and Oleksandras Kurcevas sent the rebounded ball from close range into the goal.

After this match, Andrius Lipskis' team remains in sixth place with 41 points, while the team led by Davidas Afonso stands in eighth place with 32 points.
