The defending champions, England, barely survived the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-finals of the tournament, the England team only overcame Sweden after extra time. The main time and extra time ended with a score of 2:2.

Kosovare Asllani and Stina Blackstenius established a tangible lead for Sweden within the first 25 minutes – 2:0.

However, at the end of the match, the score was levelled in two minutes (79' and 81'). Goals from Lucy Bronze and Michelles Agyemang restored parity.

During the penalty shootout, the players stepped up to the spot 14 times. Only 5 of the penalties were accurate, while the English women performed better, winning the shootout 3:2.

In the semi-finals, England will face the Italian women's team.
