The leaders of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation apologize for their country's national team players not observing a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the London terrorist attack, as reported by lrytas.lt
The incident occurred on Thursday, when the Saudi Arabian football team met with the Australian national team in the 2018 World Cup Asian qualifiers in Adelaide.
However, on Friday, a letter was released in which the Saudi Arabian Football Federation expressed an apology. "The players had no intention of showing disrespect to the memory of the victims or causing grief to their families, friends, or anyone else affected by this tragedy.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation condemns all acts of terrorism, extremism, and expresses condolences to all those affected, their families, the Government, and all of Great Britain," the letter stated.
Such justification did not convince Australian politicians, who stated that the actions witnessed by thousands of fans are a great disrespect not only to the victims and their families, but to the entire world.
