Another champions' defeat: 'Žalgiris' unable to match 'Hegelmann' at home

In the "TOPsport A League," Vilnius "Žalgiris" continues to struggle to break a lackluster streak. In the 17th round, the champions had to acknowledge the superiority of the Kaunas region team "Hegelmann" with a score of 0:1 (0:1).

The capital club held the initiative for about half an hour and created a lot of pressure on the opponents' goal. The best chance was had by Liviu Antalis, who returned to "Žalgiris" — his close-range shot was saved by Vincentas Šarkauskas.

Home goalkeeper Carlos Olsesas also had work to do. The Venezuelan defended against threatening attempts from Carlos Duke and Njoya Abdelo Kader. However, in the 45th minute, Klaudijus Upstas broke into the penalty area and took advantage of his chance.

After the break, the guests successfully adhered to their game plan. Machopas Cholas shot wide, and the "Hegelmann" team escaped into threatening counterattacks several times, but did not seriously threaten C. Olseso's goal.

The blue and whites remain in second place with 34 points, while "Žalgiris" has 19 points and sits in eighth place.
