After triumph in the LFF Cup – 'Panevėžys' wins in A League as well

The 34th round of the "TOPsport" supported Lithuanian Football A League ended in Panevėžys. The local team left no chances for Alytus DFK "Dainava" – the match ended with a score of 3:1 (1:0).

In the 13th minute, Fausto Steponavičius' shot flew past the goal, and later, Luco Moura's attempt was saved by Vytautas Černiauskas. Midway through the half, a shot by Ernesto Veliulis, who was positioned on the left flank, whistled past the far post.

The first goal came in the 27th minute when, after Ivano Koščko's hand play in his penalty area, Lucas de Vega accurately converted a penalty from 11 meters. The Alytus side could have responded with a scoring attack, but L. Moura was just short of a precise shot. In the 37th minute, after receiving the ball from Reginaldo Junior, L. Moura could have equalized the score again, but the Brazilian shot wide of the goal.

The second half began aggressively for the Panevėžys team - L. De Vega's shot rattled the goal frame, Airidas Mickevičius saved Salomon Kouadio's shot and Seydina Keita's header attempt. The pressure paid off – in the 55th minute, E. Veliulis, left unmarked, sent the ball into the far corner of the goal.

An hour into the match, F. Steponavičius could have scored in a fast attack against the opponents, but the goalkeeper intervened. The Dainava team managed to reduce the score in the 80th minute when Maksymas Maksymenko sent a bouncing ball into the net from the crossbar. However, hope was dashed by Ariagneris Smith, who restored the two-goal lead after a pass from Kwadwo Asamoah.

After the 34th round, "Panevėžys" caught up with Telšiai's "Džiugas" with 41 points, while "Dainava" remained in the last position on the league table with 16 points.
