"Manchester City" confidently advanced to the final of the English League Cup on Wednesday.
In the second leg of the semi-final match, the "Citizens" defeated "Newcastle United" 3:1 and won the series with an aggregate score of 5:1.
In this match, "City" could not count on new signing Marc Guehi, who, according to tournament rules, will also be unable to play in the final.
According to the regulations of the English League Cup, players can be registered for the tournament until the first leg of the semi-finals. Since M. Guehi's transfer took place after the first semi-final match, he can no longer play in the tournament.
After the victory, "Man City" coach Pep Guardiola did not hide his anger at such rules and stated that the club will seek an exception.
"I hope we can persuade the tournament organizers and Marc Guehi will be able to play in the final. I do not understand why he cannot play.
You pay huge money for a player, and he cannot play. I hope this will be changed," said P. Guardiola.
However, the coach later admitted that he places little hope on M. Guehi playing in the final.
"I don't think anything will change, but we will try," added the Spaniard.
