Real Madrid will have to replace the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium after the NFL game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Although the club is satisfied with the pitch’s current condition, the turf will have to be renewed after the American football event.
According to Marca, preparations for the American football game will begin on October 21—the day after Real Madrid’s final home match before the NFL event.
As was the case last year, the pitch will have to be widened, with American football field markings and end zones added.
The demands of the sport are expected to significantly damage the turf. The movement of heavy players and constant collisions could cause considerable damage to the surface, so the pitch will have to be prepared again for football matches.
The international break will be used to carry out the renovation work, minimizing disruption to the football schedule. The aim is to have the new turf ready for the Spanish league match against Celta Vigo on November 22.
