The Miami "Inter" team was unable to break through to the CONCACAF Champions League final, losing to the Vancouver "Whitecaps" team with an overall score of 1:5 in the semifinal series.
After the 1:3 loss at home, the host club's coach Javier Mascherano lamented the missed opportunities.
"It's painful because we wanted to play in the final – it would have given the team a very good position. Now we have to acknowledge that the representatives from Vancouver were stronger."
At one point, "Inter" had narrowed the series difference to 1:2, and hope shone for Lionel Messi's squad.
"We were one goal short of equalizing, and it seemed like a long match was ahead. However, two or three mistakes against a strong opponent determined the outcome of the series," J. Mascherano said.
