In the second half of this year, football fans may witness fewer bizarre offside situations on the field.
"Sport” reports that FIFA positively evaluates the trials of the "A. Wenger rule” in youth football.
If everything goes according to plan, IFAB may make significant decisions at the annual meeting in London on January 20.
If the Frenchman's changes are approved, the rule could come into effect as early as the beginning of the 2026/2027 season.
The head of the FIFA department wants to eliminate minimal offside situations when any part of the attacker's body is beyond the defender. A rules violation would only be recorded if the entire attacking player is behind opponents' backs at the moment of the ball pass.
