The president of the Vilnius "Žalgiris" club, Andrius Tapinas, is very optimistic about the team's future.
According to the famous public figure, in a few years, the capital's team could nearly double its current budget of 4.1 million euros.
"If the National Stadium opens in Vilnius and becomes the base for Vilnius 'Žalgiris', it is a 'game changer' in Lithuanian football.
Completely new opportunities for businesses in the wealthiest regional city, after two years of intensive work with the audience, Vilnius 'Žalgiris' has the chance to sell tickets not to the old 5,000-seat stadium but to a shiny, new, football-only 19,000-seat stadium.
I believe that it will not be too difficult to sell 15 thousand tickets for European tournament matches and gather over 300 thousand euros in revenue in one match. I do not intend to forecast competitors' revenues; that is their business, but Vilnius 'Žalgiris' could reach a 5 million budget in 2027 and a 7 million budget in 2028," wrote A. Tapinas on his 'Substack' page.
