In the 25th round of the "TOPsport" supported Lithuanian Football A League, "Kauno Žalgiris" clashed with Telšiai's "Džiugas" in the Žemaitija capital - the determined battle saw the visitors from Kaunas winning 2:1 (1:0) against Andrius Lipskis' team.
The most dangerous situation in the first half of the match was created by Denys Bunčukovas, who, despite being a Ukrainian, didn't part with the ball for long and confused several opponents, but his kicked ball flew past the rectangle. In the 31st minute, Valentino Vermeulenas handled the ball unlawfully in his penalty area, and Amine Benchaiba, standing at the 11-meter mark, sent the ball in the opposite direction from where the goalkeeper jumped.
In the 54th minute, the team from Telšiai restored the lead when V. Vermeulenas made a pass towards the goal, and a fantastic shot by Ronald Sobowale overpowered Tomas Švedkauskas. Just a couple of minutes later, Bacary Sane slipped close to his own goal, and taking advantage of the opponent's mistake, Dejan Georgijevičius impeccably solved the situation and put his team ahead.
In the 77th minute, Lukas Ankudinovas could have scored during a set piece, whose acrobatic shot was stopped by T. Švedkauskas, and a bit later Romualdas Janson, performing deceptive movements, shot towards the goal, managing to earn a corner.
After the matches of the 25th round in the "TOPsport" supported A league, "Kauno Žalgiris" continues to lead with 52 points, while the "Džiugas" team, having acknowledged the advantage of their opponents, has 34 points and occupies the 5th position in the tournament table.
